discussing TNG

  • Younger Sister: I think it's supposed to show that people in the future are like, cultural and stuff. Instead of spending all their free time on the internet, they put on plays!
  • Me: Hahaha. Imagine if it were written today when we know about the internet.
  • YS: I just say, "Shut up, people of the future! We write fanfic!"
  • Me: I mean... that's basically what Picard is doing during his Holodeck times.
  • YS: No, it totally is. OMG, imagine if TNG were written now. They'd totally have a holodeck episode with Downton Abbey! Thomas would take over, steal Geordi's visor, and then try to have sex with Data. Picard would be too busy drinking port with Lord Grantham to notice. Riker and Matthew would bond over how everything in their lives goes right and they hate it.
  • Me: Omg. Isobel would try to tell Beverly how to run Sickbay more efficently.
  • YS: YES.
  • Me: Sybil would fall in love with Wesley and Branson would be pissed. But he'd still love Wesley and want to be friends with him.
  • YS: Wesley would be like, "I can totally improve your car because I studied cars like this for fun because I am amazing!"
  • Me: Hahaha.
  • YS: Troi would go hang out with Anna and be like, "I sense something is troubling you," after O'Brien told her about Bates' trial. Worf would bond with Carson over honor and duty and stuff. OMG, somebody make this happen!
  • Me: SERIOUSLY. Violet would be hilarious.
  • YS: But somehow she and Guinan would become great friends
  • Me: Edith would hang out with Geordi because he can't see anything now.
  • YS: Yes, she'd totally take care of him. Mary would absolutely hate Riker. She might sort of bond with Troi over the non-existent complications keeping them apart from the guys they want to be with.
  • Me: lol. YES. I can see her hanging out with Anna and Troi.
  • YS: And then they could team up with Wesley to save Data from Thomas!
  • Me: And Anna finally being like... This is ridiculous.
  • YS: "You think you have problems? My husband is in prison for life! We LITERALLY can't be together. Pull it together, women!"
  • Me: Oh my god. This needs to happen SO MUCH.
  • YS: Picard would have absolutely no idea that anything had gone wrong until the rest of the crew burst into the library at the end.
  • Me: Amazing.
  • YS: "That was fascinating, wasn't it, Number One?" "Um, I'm pretty sure Data is scarred for life, sir." Wesley: "I AM AMAZING."
